5 Fresh Ways to Decorate Your Coffee Table
My mind is on rugs a lot, so naturally, I think about coffee tables. Coffee tables are more than a chunk of furniture in the middle of our living rooms. It's the trustworthy table where we keep our warm mugs as we begin the day with God's Word and where we break mom's rule by kicking up our feet after a long day. It's also the place where our kids love to color and snack, leaving behind that stickiness we know we will miss one day... maybe.
All this goodness makes decorating coffee tables extra special. You can do so much or so little to add your personality to the room or refresh things for a new perspective. When my coffee table isn't covered in toys, books, or fabric swatches, it looks sophisticated, chic, elegant, and put together. It symbolizes so much of who I am. You deserve the same. And while there is no one on how to decorate a coffee table, I've learned some things over my last decade of being in the interior design world.

CHARMING AND COHESIVE
Like with our lives, our homes leave impressions on people. And there’s no better way to leave a lasting one than by composing cohesive charm with our coffee table display. But true design cohesiveness doesn’t stop at our coffee table. The key to refined cohesiveness (the kind that makes you not want to take your eyes off of a room) is done by stringing a subtle thread of similarity between each item. One that ties it all together eventually. Your decor can be united through a connected color, style, theme, shape, or style - it’s up to you. To do that throughout an entire room is to do it like a pro.
Start by looking for materials with harmonizing colors and textures. Pick a few that you love and stick with them. Soon you will have that sophisticated, uniformed look the whole neighborhood will be talking about.
COFFEE TABLE TRAY
A large coffee table tray can do wonders for the cohesiveness of your table - it grounds your overall look. So get one large enough to hold your favorite knick-knacks, books, and trinkets. But don't stop at your typical coffee table pieces; fill it with something offbeat like a string of clay beads as I did here. It sends texture and shape through the roof - the perfect conversation starter.
Keep the rule of three going and top your table off with a lovely antique bowl (hopefully one with some family history) and fresh flowers on rotation.

Let's face it; sometimes, you have to start all over. But new is good! So get a simple white coffee table, some of your favorite books, an exquisite vase, a delicious candle, your favorite flowers, and arrange them in odd numbers. It might just be the refresh you've been waiting for. Pro tip: when using leafy or floral decor, be sure they stay shorter to prevent any difficulties with having a conversation with that beautiful person across from you.

A CHIC OUSHAK RUG
It might not be the coffee table you're over, but the rug underneath it. The right rug will lay out a foundation for your coffee table to shine. So if you find yourself changing your coffee table, look over and over to no avail, consider letting one of my beautiful Oushak rugs come to your rescue. My high-end Oushak rugs will be the focal point, like art for your floor that does all the talking. You'll find yourself sitting on your sofa, toes over your fresh, elegant rug, thinking, "Now, that's more like it."
