LINDSEY MEYER'S GUIDE TO ROUND TOP

LINDSEY MEYER'S GUIDE TO ROUND TOP

ROUND TOP IS HERE!

If you’ve never heard of Round Top, Texas, you might be surprised that this tiny town (population: under a hundred on some days) has become one of the most enchanting destinations in the state. Twice a year, its barns and fields transform into 10 to 15 strait miles of treasure-hunting paradise—lined with antiques, art, and vintage finds that feel like they were waiting just for you.Round Top has a way of making visitors feel like they’re discovering something magical.

And it’s not just dreamers who flock here. Celebrities and designers alike have fallen for its charm. HGTV stars, musicians, and tastemakers are known to wander the same dusty paths in search of inspiration.

Whether you come for the antiques, the people-watching, or just the wide Texas skies, Round Top always delivers a story worth taking home. So whether you come hunting for treasures, a chance to wear your western finest or in need of a weekend escape from the ordinary, Round Top has a way of weaving you into its own story.

One of the best parts of Round Top? The fashion. It’s your chance to go all in on those Western vibes you may not pull off in everyday life. Think wide-brim hats, broken-in boots, turquoise jewelry, and fringe that catches the Texas breeze just right. Everyone shows up with their own spin—some full-on cowgirl chic, others with just a subtle nod to Western style—and that mix is what makes it so fun.

Round Top is as much about the people-watching as it is about the antiques, and the outfits are part of the magic. It’s the perfect excuse to finally wear that hat you bought in Santa Fe, those boots you’ve been saving, or that statement belt buckle. Out here, bigger really is better, and a little boldness goes a long way.

I don’t know everything there is to know about Round Top, here is list of favorites that I don’t miss.

Where to stay:

Round Top Inn
407 S White St, Round Top, TX 78954
979.249.5294
My friends and I only stay at the Round Top Inn—it’s become our home away from home. Charming rooms, hearty home-cooked breakfasts, and the friendliest service make it unforgettable. Set on a shaded one-acre property with historic cottages dating back to the 1880s, it’s the perfect blend of Texas history and true hospitality.

Where to eat:

The Garden Co.

Located in Rummel Square, the Garden Co. is a farm-to-table concept known for its beautiful garden setting. They offer fresh, locally-sourced ingredients with dishes like brick oven pizzas, salads, and seafood. We always eat here night one, because it’s close to the Round Top Inn and we are pooped from shopping til we drop.

This is my go to nicer dinner option. Get there before your reservation and enjoy the lovely Il Cuculo bar. The atmosphere in the the rustic Italian eatery is delightfully cozy and intimate and the food is incredible. We go here night two because we’ve learned when to stop shopping and go home to shower, lift up our boots and reenergize .

Bader Ranch  - https://www.shoproundtop.com/

More than a restaurant. It’s also a major showroom. During the show season, it opens its 10,000 square feet of European antiques, mid-century modern furnishings, and luxury fashion for visitors to browse and fall in love with. It’s my absolute favorite place to grab a marg when the sun is going down.

Where to shop:

Its weathered barns house a refined mix of antiques, vintage treasures, and unique home goods -Blue Hills captures the very essence of the Round Top experience—where every discovery feels meaningful, and every visit unforgettable. It’s a place I return to again and again, and to me, it’s simply the best.

What to bring:

Essentials for Antiquing & Shopping

  • Cash + card – some vendors don’t take cards, and cash can help you negotiate
  • Tape measure – for furniture or art pieces
  • Shopping tote– to carry small finds
  • Notebook + pen (or notes app) – jot booth numbers or items to circle back for
  • Umbrella or poncho – weather can change quickly
  • Portable phone charger – photos, maps, and Instagram will drain your battery

Comfort Items:

  • Comfortable shoes – you’ll walk a lot across fields and barns
  • Hat + sunglasses – Texas sun is strong
  • Light layers – mornings can be cool, afternoons warm
  • Snacks – though food trucks are plentiful, it’s nice to have something on hand

Prep Before You Go:

  • Measure your spaces – note wall dimensions, room layouts, and furniture clearances.
  • Make a shopping list – jot down the items you’re hoping to find (art, furniture, lighting, rugs, accessories).
  • Bring fabric & paint swatches – having your room colors on hand helps when picking art, upholstery, or décor.
  • Take photos of your home – quick phone shots of your rooms make it easier to visualize scale and style.
  • Set a budget – it’s easy to get carried away, so decide your “must-have” vs. “nice-to-have” spend.

No matter what draws you to Round Top... the antiques, the design inspiration, or simply the charm of small-town Texas—this little stretch of countryside always leaves you with more than you came for. It’s a place where every barn holds a story, every field hides a treasure, and every visit feels like the start of a new tradition.

So whether it’s your first trip or your fifteenth, Round Top is waiting to surprise you again. ✨

See you in Round Top!

xoxo,

Lindsey Meyer
